Apartment and home rentals, food, clothing, and many consumer goods are priced less in Mason County than in the cities of Seattle and Tacoma. The largest city in the county, Shelton, with 8,495 residents, is served by four food supermarkets, an expanded Wal-Mart, as well as many specialty, electronics and building supply stores.
